This Weeks Book

Just finished reading We Live For The We by Dani McClain, The Political Power of Black Motherhood.

So grateful for this book. I was especially curious about the chapter on family because I have been confused for a long time about why we hold nuclear families up as the best way to raise children when I see such unhappiness and isolation with this model. She broke open the mold. I learned so much from the women she interviews, and was touched and saddened by some of the hardships incurred due to the color of their skin.

I highly recommend it! In particular if you are a mother. But an eye-opener for all.

I hope I can be a better ally to black mothers and a better friend and citizen too.

Give it a go.
